New rules came into effect in the EU and EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) on 14th September 2019 governing online payments and online banking which affect banking-based payment methods (e.g. credit cards, SOFORT, Giropay, online transfers etc.).
The new rules, laid down by the EU’s so-called Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), aim to make payments and online banking more secure and protect consumers against fraud.
As part of the change, Strong Customer
Authentication (SCA) is required during the payment process and online banking.
What this means for you, depending on the method of payment you use, can be
read about in the following FAQ.
